The
Indian Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ICCK) attended in a seminar titled
"ROK-INDIA Green Hydrogen Seminar: Green Hydrogen Revitalization and
Mutual Cooperation," jointly organized by the Korea Chamber of Commerce
and Industry, the Sustainable Projects Development Association (SPDA) of India,
and supported by the Embassy of India in Korea and Solution for Our Climate.
The event took place at the Lotte Hotel Seoul on February 21st, 2024. The
seminar began with the welcoming remarks by H.E. Amit Kumar, Ambassador of
Indian Embassy in Korea and Mr. Young-Jun Cho, Director of Sustainable
Management Institution, KCCI. The seminar facilitated networking and pitching
sessions between officials from India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy,
renewable energy developers, and demanding companies from India and Korea.
Renowned Indian renewable energy firms such as SPDA, Avaada Energy, Ocicor
Energy, Torrent Power Limited, ACME, Hygenco Green Energies, and Welspun Group
delivered company introductions and pitches during the event. The
seminar aimed to foster collaboration between Korean and Indian renewable
energy companies for the development of the green hydrogen ecosystem. India,
with its abundant renewable energy potential and emerging market growth, has
garnered attention as a new energy supply hub. Under the comprehensive support
of the government, India has embarked on a robust drive to adopt green hydrogen
as a cornerstone of its energy security vision, setting ambitious goals to
produce 5 million tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030, with a $24 billion
investment. Korean
companies, recognizing India as a prospective hydrogen supply network, have
been formulating entry strategies, with participation from numerous domestic
firms. There is also anticipation of hydrogen penetration into the steel
industry. The designated discussion theme, "Potential for bilateral
partnership on green hydrogen value chain- with a focus on production and
utilization," led to panel discussions among hydrogen industry specialists
including Mr. Ki Dong Kim from Deloitte Consulting, Mr. Jin Nam Park from Korea
Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning, Mr. Kwangmin An from Korea Gas
Corporation, Mr. Jungdong Ahn from LtechUVS, and Yonghee Won from LS Cables and
Systems, addressing the current state and future direction of green hydrogen. The
seminar concluded successfully with networking sessions, fostering further
collaboration opportunities between Korean and Indian stakeholders.
