The sale of electric two-wheelers in India contracted by over 5% during 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic impacted business. The industry has blamed shortcomings in the Government’s flagship electric vehicles (EV) policy for sales to not take off as expected. SMEV has pointed at inadequacies in the centre’s Faster Adoption and Manufacture of Electric and hybrid vehicles (FAME-India) scheme for lack of consumer interest in EVs.
