Ratings agency Icra has lowered the outlook for the banking sector from positive to stable citing limited upside, although the sector would continue to remain healthy. The ratings agency indicated that this is as good as it gets for banks in terms of margins as the increased cost of deposits catches up and credit growth slows. "Net interest margin will continue to remain under pressure resulting in a moderation in return indicators," said Sachin Sachdeva, vice-president and sector head at Icra. |
