Samsung, Karnataka partner to promote computer education for girls

Samsung India and the Karnataka government on Tuesday inked an agreement to promote computer and digital education to underprivileged girl students in government schools in rural areas of the State.

 

The memorandum of understanding was signed on day two of Karnataka's BengaluruITE.biz. This fiscal, Samsung will donate 400 tablets under its CSR, which will be used in the Chetana programme of Karnataka's IT & BT department. The Chetana programme is provides mentorship for two years for meritorious girls who have passed Class 10 from government schools.

 

The Chetana a program is a testimonial to our commitment to empower rural students through technology. We are happy that private sector recognises the need for such initiatives and has come forward to support them,” Karnataka's IT minister Priyank Kharge said.

 

"The project has enabled 333 girls in the first phase to encourage innovation and excellence," Samsung Research Institute CTO Aloknath De said.
