Medicine gets the digital boost
Writer Admin Date 2016-12-26 17:52

Digital tech has visibly disrupted healthcare by changing the way care delivery models are developed, connect data to drive decision-making and systematize processes. Telemedicine is the use of technology for remote diagnosis.

According to a report by research rm PwC, India’s digital connectivity is expected to grow from 15% access in 2014 to 80% access in 2034, with rural Internet users increasing by 58% annually, which presents a great potential for telemedicine and remote diagnosis in the country.

If we are to compare the speed of adoption of technologies, it took the telephone 75 years to reach 50 million users, whereas Facebook achieved the same number of users in 3.5 years and Internet took only 4 years. India’s telemedicine market was valued at $100 million in 2011 and is expected to grow by over four times by the end of 2016.
