Air India, the national carrier of India has been associated with South Korea since October1986 when it started as an offline station. In July 1997 it became online, when operations commenced with Airbus A-310 type of aircraft on DEL/HKG/SEL route and back with 2 frequencies per week. But the operations were suspended quickly in April 1998 due to the IMF crisis. The flights resumed in August 2005 by originating from Mumbai with an increase in frequency to 4 flights per week. They were suspended again in September 2008 due global economic recession. The operations resumed once again in August 2010 with B777 type of aircraft, and are continuing till date. In October 2013, the equipment was changed to the new state of the art B787 (Dreamliner) on this route. We also have a code share agreement with Asiana airlines from February 2013 with 3 flights a week, making it a daily service as far as the customers are concerned. This code share agreement also existed earlier from April 1999 till July 2005 and was discontinued when we began our own services. We are offering highly competitive fares to India by including 10 common rated points, namely different cities spread across India / Nepal. We also have airport upgrade scheme for passengers who wish to travel by Business Class by paying a nominal increase of fare. Air India is about to complete two years of joining the prestigious “Star Alliance“, one of the world’s largest airline networks. The major benefits arising out of this would be that our passengers will have increased options to choose between several other carriers and enjoy seamless connections across different cities around the world, apart from gaining in mileage points accrual by flying with various Star Alliance member airlines.
