Since its foundation in 1954, Ssangyong Motor Company has grown to become a premier automotive manufacture. The Company opened up an era of the 4WD vehicles in the 1980s by independently developing SUVs. Since 2000, Ssangyong Motor has firmly established itself as a SUV leader by building a full line-up of SUV models. 

The Company has a plant in Pyungtaek (head office) and an engine plant in Changwon. It exports through some 1,650 sales network in 115 countries actively expanding its global presence. It also has regional head offices and parts centers in major overseas regions such as in Europe to quickly attend to the market requirements. 

Ssangyong Motor’s brands include the New Korando C, Korando Sports, Korando Turismo, Rexton W and a passenger car line-up such as the Chairman W. The Company launched a new compact SUV, Tivoli in January 2015. In 2014, the Company sold approx. 141,000 vehicles (51% exports) to post revenue of more than 3 billion dollars. As of end of 2014, the Company has more than 4,800 employees.    

Ssangyong Motor is part of the Mahindra Group, based in Mumbai, India, which is a multinational group represented in over 100 countries. Mahindra manages business in tractors, utility vehicles, information technology as well as in aerospace, commercial vehicles and financial services.
